Christmas Day is upon us! I hope many of you have a chance to celebrate with Family and Friends, and take some time to relax and unwind from the BUSYness of the season…and our lives. I find it quite a coincidence that even though I ask why the stress and worries of this season seem to consume the lives of many, then I find myself shopping Christmas Eve Day! As a matter of fact I did the majority of my shopping between 6pm Wednesday and Noon Friday. Mind you I did none on Thursday as we were traveling south to Arkansas. Some of you might have been stressed if you were in such a predicament come Wednesday night. No worries for this guy, I would actually rather share in a Christmas experience than participate in material good exchange.
As I have grown in my Faith and Relationship with God, I have learned to try and Put God First in everything I do. Now you all know I am not perfect…never have been, never will be, but at the end of the day I put trust in God that He will shine through me and provide each of you with gifts much greater than the material things that you wish for during this season. Each year I am asked, what do I want for Christmas? At the end of the day I want to spend time with my family and grow in my relationship with them. I also wish that more people are able to get to know about the Story of Jesus and His Father, Our Creator. What does this Story really mean to us and how does it impact our lives?
I ask that you Remember what God has done for us and the blessings He has provided. The biggest blessing of all, His Son, Jesus Christ, that came to this Earth and provides us with Salvation(John 3:16) and direction(John 14:6) as to what’s important in this life. This gift is greater than anything material we could ever receive. Material things come and go, providing short-lived happiness. I hope your Christmas story is about more than the gifts, the food and cheer in a cup. As you Celebrate Christmas take 10 or 15 minutes and think about how you can TAKE GOD more SERIOUSLY around this time of year! Is it by serving those less fortunate and providing Hope for their Christmas Season? Is it by listening to those family members that you may have ignored in years past, providing a Loving ear to hear what they are saying? Is it actually being in the moment rather than being distracted by concerns such as work, gift shopping or the score of the football game?
Those of us that Celebrate Christmas are responsible for sharing this Story of Jesus Christ and I Hope to have inspired some of you think a little more about how God is working in your life and blessing you with everything you have, talents and treasure(John 3:27). Be a good steward and share with others! Merry Christmas to you and yours! I pray that God Blesses all of us with the greatest gift, FREEDOM from worldly desires that bring us stress and momentary happiness at best!
What is your Christmas Story?
